I'm a researcher at RAND in Santa Monica currently working on a project looking at Chinese
students with graduate degrees in science and engineering from US universities and their
rate of return to China. I've gathered the available statistics from the National Science
Foundation, the Institute of International Education, and other organizations, and am now
conducting some face-to-face interviews in order to put those figures in some context.
In the course of my reading for this project, I've learned about your fascinating story
through articles in the Far Eastern Economic Review and other publications. I would
greatly welcome the opportunity to meet and talk with you about your own experiences
as a student as well as your current efforts as president of SCOBA.
I will be traveling to the Bay area the latter part of this week, December 12-14.
